Oracle® Retail Integration Cloud Service

Release Notes

Release 19.1.000

F34814-01

August 2020

This document highlights the major changes for Release 19.1.000 of Oracle Retail Integration Cloud Service.

Overview

The Oracle Retail Integration Cloud Service (RICS) is comprised of the Oracle Retail Integration Suite of products that are cloud deployable for a customer's integration to Oracle Retail applications and the customer's on-premises or hybrid configurations of third-party applications.

The integration products supported and mentioned in this document are the same as the generally available on-premises versions of the following applications:

n        Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB)

n        Oracle Retail Service Backbone (RSB)

n        Oracle Retail Bulk Data Integration (BDI)

n        Retail Financial Integration (RFI)

n        Universal Service Mapper (USM)

Oracle Retail Cloud Services and Business Agility

Oracle Retail RICS is hosted in the Oracle Cloud with the security features inherent to Oracle technology and a robust data center classification, providing significant uptime. The Oracle Cloud team is responsible for installing, monitoring, patching, and upgrading retail software.

Included in the service is continuous technical support, access to software feature enhancements, hardware upgrades, and disaster recovery. The Cloud Service model helps to free customer IT resources from the need to perform these tasks, giving retailers greater business agility to respond to changing technologies and to perform more value-added tasks focused on business processes and innovation.

Oracle Retail Software Cloud Service is acquired exclusively through a subscription service (SaaS) model. This shifts funding from a capital investment in software to an operational expense. Subscription-based pricing for retail applications offers flexibility and cost effectiveness.

Client System Requirements

The following technology is supported:

Operating Systems

n        Microsoft Windows 10

Note

Oracle Retail assumes that the retailer has ensured its operating system has been patched with all applicable Windows updates.

Browser Support

n        Mozilla Firefox ESR 68+

n        Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0

n        Microsoft Edge 44+

n        Google Chrome (Desktop) 79+

n        Apple Safari 12+

Functional Enhancements

The following functional enhancements are included in this release:

BDI

Bulk Data Export Service

A new RESTful Web Service has been added, called Bulk Data Export Service, which allows authenticated access to the latest available data sets in either full or partial form. Five new endpoints have been added to facilitate this data export.

All importer activities from RMS to External applications are either skipped or not based on flag "skipImporterActivitiesForExternal" specified in the deployment JSON file for the process flow application. The default value of "skipImporterActivitiesForExternal" flag is set to "true" in bdi-process-flow-admin-deployment-env-info.json

Auto Purge of Inbound Data

Inbound data tables are now purged of eligible data sets every hour by an automatic thread.

Bulk API Support for Job Admin Group Members

The Bulk APIs are updated to support bulk addition and deletion of both groups and members of groups. Four new endpoints have been added for this.

RIB

RIB Log Manager

The Log Level settings for every adapter can be changed from the "Log Manager" tab in the RIB admin GUI page. To make upgrades easier, the log level settings for each adapter are now stored on the database in a table named RUNTIME_OVERRIDE_CONFIG instead of the log4j2.xml file.

A log level change for any of the adapters can be restricted by adding names of the required adapters to the respective rib-<app_name>.properties file against the key "disableLogLevelUpdatesForAdapter".

RIB Integration Flow Updates

The following changes have been made:

n        Deprecated - DSDDeals_sub_1 and OTB_sub_1

n        Newly added - PosTrn_sub_1, PosTrn_pub_1, Customer_sub_1 and Customer_pub_1

RFI

RFI Supplier Filters

Because not all of the financial suppliers are meant for merchant use, a new feature has been added to RFI. This new feature gives user the ability to set filters on supplier data to filter specific supplier so that this can be processed in RMS.

RFI Constraint Change

One of the fields "COMMON_ID" is required to uniquely identify each record in the cross-reference DVM. It is a mandatory field in the "Manage DVM" UI screen, so it is made into a primary key, eliminating redundancy.

RFI Error Status Change for Failed Supplier Stage

If any of the supplier data fails and the count of those records is more than 1000, then the supplier adapter will keep processing that same failed data over and over again. This has been fixed by adding a new failed state which makes it so that these latest failed records are ignored during processing.

RFI SLF4J upgrade from Commons Logging

The logging has been upgraded from Commons logging to slf4j. This has better control over the logged data.

RFI ICB_1216 Global Tax Solution

A new "TAX_ID" mapping field has been done between CFIN and RFI for supplier integration flows.

RFI Error Log Screen

A new screen has been added to the RFI application to show the error logged in the RFI database tables. A paginated view has been implemented for limiting data that can be viewed in a single page.

RFI Timer and Processing Adapter Frequency Change

The default value for the timer and processing adapter has now been set to 10 minutes (previously, the value was 2 hours). This is configurable in the rfi.properties file.

RFI Include Supplier Xref Ind

A new checkbox has been added to the Search functionality in the Manage DVM page. This option enables the inclusion of the rather large set of customer Xref and DVM data, which would otherwise cause performance issues when searching. By default, this is unchecked and will reset to unchecked every time the application leaves that page.

Technical Enhancements

The following technical enhancements described are included in this release:

BDI

Tree Display of Process Flows

The Summary page of the Process Flow application UI has been improved to display the parent-child processes in a tree structure. Main flows are displayed as table entries and can be expanded to show each flow’s child processes

RIB

Injector Service Tab Updates

The "Injector Service" tab in "Manage Configurations" in all the RIB applications has been updated to show properties read from the RIB Properties. Any changes made here are also directly saved to the RIB properties file.

IDCS oAuth2 Support

Starting with this release, RIB will primarily use the IDCS oAuth2 authentication for both the inbound and outbound REST calls. However, BasicAuth is still supported to maintain backwards compatibility and work with on-premise requirements.

Note

There are optional changes in the rib-deployment-env-info.xml file to capture the oAuth2 configuration.

RIB Runtime Credential Storage Location Change

RIB now uses the DB Store instead of the file store to store the runtime credentials. There is no change to the compilation and deployment steps.

The runtime credentials can be viewed from the WebLogic "em" console.

Tools

JMS Console Enhancements

JMS Console has two new authentication roles:

n        JmsConsoleOperatorRole

n        JmsConsoleMonitorRole

The JMS console deployer will prompt the user to add the credentials for "JMSOperatorUser" and "JMSMonitorUser" when the installer runs.

Retail Integration Console (RIC)

RIC upgrades have been made easier by removing the version number from the file-deployable .ear file.

The final .ear to be deployed should be renamed to ric-admin.ear

RFI

RFI Admin UI Security

RFI Admin UI is now secured with form-based authentication.

Three new authentication roles have been added to restrict access to operations in the RFI applications.

n        RfiAdminRole

n        RfiOperatorRole

n        RfiMonitorRole

Abilities and setup of each of the user roles is explained in detail in the RFI Guide.
